Haute Couture Wedding Dresses

So my sister lives in Hawaii. She is getting married in May (she got engaged in Dec) on the beach. Her original colors were lilac and white. When she went bridesmaid dress shopping she changed her color to burnt orange.

My problem. I am getting married in October. I booked my site before her, selected my flowers and my colors. My colors are burnt orange, brown and ivory (just hints of brown and ivory). My main flower is an orange calla lilly.

She had an appt with the florist this weekend called to tell me what flowers she picked out and I almost started crying. Her main flower….an orange calla lilly. That is my main flower. I refuse to tell her anything else about my wedding because she is taking all my plans and making them her wedding! That alone is stressing me out and bringing me to tears. I told her that was my flower and she knew my colors were orange, ivory and brown. She told me my mom and dad and step sisters will be the only one at both weddings and no one will notice. I didn’t say a word back. I felt like I was going to be sick to my stomach so I just got off the phone. Am I wrong for being upset about this? I know I am not the only person in the world to have those colors and flowers…but why did she have to copy me!

I am not a stickler for rules, and what is proper HOWEVER, I do feel that there are areas of good form and simple decency that may get overlooked at the expense of being “non traditional”
EXAMPLE: I recently attended a reception for someone who had a destination wedding. I thought it was great that they were able to get married on the beach BUT they had only invited 8 people to the wedding. I get that destination weddings are small- BUT she invited over 100 people to the reception, wore a huge wedding dress and had the nerve to include registry info in her invites.
I was very happy and excited for them, and wanted to go to the reception- had contemplated a gift. BUT- to actually request gifts from people you didn’t even invite to the wedding? NO NO NO.

The big dress thing, I added that b/c she really wanted everyone to act as though it were a normal reception, that had just followed a ceremony…which none of us were invited to. I like her- she’s a bit of a princess though- I thought it was just odd that she posted huge pictures of herself everywhere in the gown AND whore the gown- it was evident the party was her way of being a total princess. I don’t think that is what a party after your destination wedding is supposed to be. (just me though. maybe I’m wrong)

I am trying to decide between a fancy brown dress and a black fancy suit. The thing is, the reception is going to be partially outside and it will be a little chilly and I wanted to be warm. I thought that the “No Black to Wedding” rule has changed. Ladies wore sexy black dresses to my wedding and I didn’t give it a second thought. Thoughts? I don’t want to offend. Thanks!

I’m 23 and have blonde hair. My friend’s wedding is the start of july. Most of the guests will be around my age so it will be a young wedding and i want something fashionable but elegant. I have looked for nice dresses on ebay, asos, littlewoods, monsoon, etc. and I still haven’t managed to find anything to wear.

My budget is tight so i dont want anything too expensive. I live in ireland so any websites/stores will have to deliver here.

I like bright colours and all styles and am open to suggestion…

I have look at the Jasmine website and they do no list prices, and neither do online retailers. Has anyone bought one or know some one who has bought one before? How much did you/they pay?

I am needing some help finding songs to play at my reception. My husband and I will be renewing our vows in 2010. I know it is a ways off but we are wanting to have the large wedding we couldn’t afford at first and want to do it right this time.

Now, going to give a bit of detail about us and our wedding since it is a bit unconventional. We are not the normal couple, by any stretch of the imagination and I am not one to want Cannon in D played at the wedding. We already have two songs picked out but I would like some more.

We are a more Medieval family. I don’t mean we dress up daily in armor and corsets but we do attend Ren Fairs. Our wedding to renew our vows will be held at one and we are going period with our attire. We are also more into heavy/gothic/industrial sounding music. Metallica, Kamelot, DragonForce, Nightwish, etc.

Our family also has a long history. I am mixed but the main part of my heritage is Norwegian. His family background is mostly Gaelic Irish. We have traced our family lines back several hundred years and have found that my family actually drove part of his family out of Ireland many centuries ago. They retaliated by slaughtering off a good portion of my family. You just have to love history.

Well, to throw in a twist, turns out a knight in his family turned away from his clan to be with a woman from my family. This was a bedtime story for both of us growing up and we always just thought it was one of those tales that parents make up to get the kids to sleep. We did not meet face to face till we were in our mid/late 20’s. It was odd to find out we had the same bed time story and that it turned out it was true.

The knight from his family actually changed the family crest and colors to come closer to my families. In the end, it did not turn out well. My ancestor was killed by his family to keep him from being with the enemy.

Now, we are together and have a beautiful child together.

I am searching for songs that fit this and us. Ones that talk about finding each after years. Heavier songs that sound good played instrumentally and slowed down a bit.

I know it is odd but hey, that is us. The song we have chosen as our first dance is Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters and I will be walking down the isle to Nightwish’s I wish I had an Angel. I know, not normal but they sound fabulous as instrumentals played on piano with string accompaniment.

Any help coming up with other songs would be great.

And, please refrain from the usual comments of - Who would want that played at their wedding, are you nuts, you’re a freak and so forth and so on.

Looking for songs for all parts of the ceremony and reception. Trying to stay away from anything classical, either in arrangement or traditional.

need some advice on not to get overwhelmed with all these wedding options. my fiancee and i are getting married in 2011 somewhere in queensland. i have just spent a week researching every possible option there is available, from beach weddings to garden weddings, to a wedding in the atherton tablelands, to island weddings, all sorts of dresses and dress styles, colourschemes, caterers, venues, music, menues, marquee hire etc.
it is so overwhelming, i thought i had a rough idea of what we really wanted on our day but the more research we did this week, the more difficult it gets to decide on one thing cuz it is ALL so nice, and each style has their beautiful parts and less nice parts
how do you not get overwhelmed, and how do you know you picked the right option/caterer/venue and ur not going to get ripped off or it might not be what you expected?

how did you plan your wedding without getting all too much overwhelmed, because i want this to be a nice experience for both of us
